Another annual event in the calendar, another kit from EA7 and Napoli, and this time it’s the impending love-fest that is Valentine’s Day, marked by a garish lip-stick adorned number, which the Italian side wore against Coppa Italia match against Cremonese.
No holiday or special occasion on the calendar is off the table when it comes to special edition kits for Napoli it seems, and while we wait for a Groundhog Day shirt (for that’s sort of how it feels every time we see a new kit for the Serie A side), in the meantime we have to content ourselves with a new special jersey dedicated to Valentine’s Day. The shirt was worn in Napoli's Coppa Italia match against Cremonese, in which the league leaders suffered a shock defeat on penalties at the hands of the league's bottom team.
It's the first time the club have released a Valentine's Day kit, and it follows on from the latest Halloween kit. The shirt sees a white base with a garish lipstick graphic on the body, and red and pink hues fading across the shoulders.
However unnecessary this latest shirt for Napoli may feel, there's a good cause attached, with the shirts worn against Cremonese in the Coppa Italia being put up for auction on MatchWornShirt. All proceeds will go to charity to three NGOs in the local region regarding gender-based violence: Dedalus Cooperativa Sociale, Le Kassandre and Le Forti Guerriere del Rione Sanita.
