Colombian Side América De Cali Reveal Commemorative Shirt

Bringing a fully retro feel to proceedings, Le Coq Sportif and América de Cali have produced a special shirt that commemorates the first time the club became champions of Colombia, back in 1979.

Clubs often look back on their greatest achievements to spur on the support today, rightly placing momentous moments from their past on a pedestal. And one such club is Colombian side América de Cali, who, with the help of their technical sponsor, Le Coq Sportif, have released a beautifully retro commemorative shirt that harks back to their first-ever league win.

The lightly ribbed material is red all over apart from the white polo collar and cuffs. The celebratory design is embellished with classic "América" text that appears on the front in the sponsor slot, while a small tonal "Aquel 19" badge takes the place of the traditional club crest, referring to the nickname of the championship winning squad. Le Coq Sportif’s logo stands out in white, and there is a commemorative “79” detail on the back, below the collar.

From certain design features it appears unlikely that this shirt will be worn in a match and is likely instead intended as a lifestyle piece.

The América de Cali commemorative shirt is available from the club's online store.
