adidas Launch NYCFC 2023 'Parks Kit' Third Strip

Arriving as the third of what is going to be four MLS teams to get a special third shirt from adidas in 2023, NYCFC have unveiled ‘The Parks Kit’, which is an homage to and celebration of New York City’s parks.

Earlier this year, MLS and adidas announced that four select teams from the league would be getting special third shirts in 2023, with Toronto FC being the first with their Caribbean Carnival-inspired ‘Energy Kit’, followed by New York Red Bulls’ Hip-Hop infused ‘Freestyle Kit’. Now the third in that line has been revealed with New York City FC’s ‘Parks Kit’. The Kit is an homage to and celebration of New York City’s parks, their history and the vital role they play for New Yorkers and the beautiful game.

The parks are the metaphoric and literal lungs of the City, providing critical clean air and places to relax and play in the City That Never Sleeps. It’s where many people learn, apply and hone their soccer skills on a daily basis.”

Conjuring some Germany women's away vibes (no bad thing) the kit’s green shades and white accents draw their inspiration straight from the NYC Parks. The front panel is designed using a customised layering of different textures of Central Park—the foliage, roots, rock outcroppings and grassy lawns, framed alongside the trim of the Club’s City Blue. The jock tag detail proudly displays the iconic NYC Parks Department “Parks Mark,” while the back neck features a design inspired by the floral patterns of Central Park’s Bethesda Arcade and fountain.

NYCFC Midfielder, Keaton Parks, said: “The Parks are a great representation of New York City itself. On any given day, you’ll see people from all different backgrounds coming together to enjoy them, playing soccer or other sports or hanging out with their friends and family.

“Our parks are a place for everyone, and I’m honoured to wear a kit that celebrates this commonality for New Yorkers.

New York City Football Club has been a longstanding partner of NYC Parks, helping to create brand new soccer pitches for New Yorkers, and I’m excited to join them once again to reveal our latest collaboration – the first-ever Parks jersey,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue. “Our public parks are important oases providing all groups of people, sport teams and other patrons with healthy greenspaces to connect with their environments. We’re proud of this latest collaboration with NYCFC, and we look forward to giving New Yorkers yet another chance to show their NYC Parks pride.
