Ezeta Reveal 2024 Home, Away & Third Shirts For SS Romulea

The creative people behind Italian brand Ezeta are at it again, with a new set of kits for Italian Eccellenza side, SS Romulea, which have been inspired by the the Basilica of St. John Lateran, which is the Cathedral of Rome.

Italian design studio Ezeta continue to forge their very distinct style, and the latest side to benefit from their creativity is Società Sportiva Romulea, a non-league Italian side from the Rome district founded in 1922. The club have a strong focus on youth development and have seen over 150 players go on to careers as professional footballers. Now, following a troubled period in the club’s history, they are making their way back, and as part of that they have an eye on a new aesthetic identity, and that’s where Ezeta have stepped in.

Ezeta have specialized in helping lower league Italian sides from the Rome region rebrand, offering them new club crests (with the help of British designer, Dan K. Norris) and creatively produced kits that wouldn’t look out of place in the top-tier of the game.

For SS Romulea, Ezeta took inspiration from the The Basilica of St. John Lateran – the Cathedral of Rome. Built by Constantine in the year 314 AC, after his victory in the battle of the Milvian Bridge against Maxentius, it is the oldest church in the West. Over the years, the Basilica has been continuously enriched with precious works of art and various decorations. The precious gold coffered ceiling was designed by Michelangelo and later made by Daniele da Volterra on commission of Popes Pius IV and Pius V. Opposing that, the Cosmatesque floor is decorated with polychrome marble typical of 12th-13th century medieval Roman art, and it’s from these two places that the design of the new home, away and third shirts for the club come.

The red home shirt and black third shirts share the same template, with the intricate ceiling design being recreated in a luxurious sublimated print throughout the body. The collar and cuffs then come in contrasting orange, combining with the red base of the home in particular in a fashion that is very reminiscent of AS Roma’s traditional look.

The away shirt then presents a creatively contemporary spin on the Cosmatesque floor design of the Basilica, with a white base playing host to a graphic representation of the marble tiles in the club’s traditional home colors of red and orange.
