Athens Kallithea Launch 24/25 Kappa Away Shirt

Taking inspiration from the club’s early years, when their kit combo led to the tongue-in-cheek nickname of “England”, Athens Kallithea have revealed their new away shirt from Kappa for the 24/25 season.

Way before Athens Kallithea were the style icons that they are today, in their early years upon the club’s founding in 1966, they played in white shirts with navy shorts, which prompted fans to give them the nickname "England.” Playing off that history, the club have produced a classic look reminiscent of ‘90s-era England shirts for their new 24/25 away shirt from Kappa, in a clean white with subtle debossed lines through the body, accented with flock graphics and a soft, slightly oversized collar.

Set for a return to the top division of Greek football for the first time in 18 years, Athens Kallithea continue to build on their reputation as front-runners in the football x fashion space, expressing an affinity for more classic and refined aesthetics with their kits over the last couple of years, again seen last week with the club's new home shirt. That continues here, with the away shirt design celebrating simplicity and subtlety. As a special detail, the 24/25 AKFC away shirt also features a retro Kappa logo that hasn’t been seen on a match kit in the modern era.

We’re continually looking to the club’s past,” explained club president and creative director, Ted Philipakos. “It’s simultaneously an opportunity to celebrate where we came from and to source meaningful inspiration when we’re creating new things.

The away shirt campaign, shot on the streets of Athens and at the famed Athenian skate bowl Latraac, arrives through the lens of New York photographer Ethan White and features London-based model Aws Bob Fakhari.
