Portland Hearts Of Pine Unveil Inaugural Home Jersey From hummel

Gearing up for a debut in USL League One next year, new side Portland Hearts of Pine have revealed their inaugural home jersey from hummel.

Before we go any further, lets clear something up for those of us that aren’t Stateside and in the know – this is not Portland, Oregon, home to the likes of Portland Timbers and Thorns. No, this is Portland, Maine, way over on the East coast. And it’s home to a new club set to debut in USL next year. So Portland Hearts of Pine haven’t even kicked a ball in anger to date, and yet they’ve already gone about establishing themselves as one of the most aesthetically pleasing and creative clubs in the American soccer scene right now. And as if to punctuate that opinion, the new club – who only established themselves in 2023 – have revealed their inaugural home kit, aptly titled the ‘Woods & Water’ jersey.

The kit arrives courtesy of hummel, and it perfectly balances the burgeoning identity of the club – deeply rooted in the local community and landscape – with a beautifully bespoke retro feel. That modern-retro approach features a horizontal striped pattern of green and blue representing Maine’s woods and water. It’s instantly a pretty unique colour combo in the game, but it’s one that works so nicely with the Maine backdrop. There’s an old school feel about the design, with the classic blue collars and cuffs both bringing a beat of design nostalgia and pulling through red accents from the Dirigo Heart in the club crest. As if to amplify that this is not the Portland Timbers, the word ‘Maine’ sits proudly in the sponsor slot. Finally, acting as a nice sign off to the design, the club motto is worn proudly under the back collar alongside the club’s Dirigo Heart.
