Arriving for the festive season, RB Leipzig and PUMA presented their new ‘Jingle Jersey’ last week, which was created from velvet. The players then wore an authentic performance version not made from velvet in their game against Wolfsburg.
Setting a marker in what is their first year of partnership, PUMA and RB Leipzig revealed the ‘Jingle Jersey’ last week – created with a fittingly festive deep red velvet base accented with gold detailing. Apparently it’s the first football shirt in history to be made entirely of high-quality red velvet (not sure on the factual accuracy of that, but we’ll take their word), and it was limited to just 2,009 pieces in a nod to the year the club was founded.
Completing the exclusive package, the Jingle Jersey came in a high-quality metal box. Its inlay was removable so that the box can be used afterwards – as a cookie jar, for example. That idea was further promoted by the presence of the included cookie cutter in the shape of a jersey, decorated with the RB Leipzig and PUMA logo.
Each box was individually numbered and corresponded to the limited edition number of the respective jersey.

As with most kit releases, there’s a player version, worn on the pitch by the pros in the match against Wolfsburg (the less said about that game the better), and the version for the fans. The only difference here is that the premium velvet presentation – likely the more sought after of the two – is the one for the fans, with the player version being made from high-performance materials, as you’d expect. It still adopted the same visual look, with a deep red base and golden accents, but there was no velvety soft touch to comfort the players.
The RB Leipzig 'Jingle Jersey' has already sold out. Best ask Santa for one if you still fancy it.
