PUMA Unveil First-Ever Portugal Kit

PUMA have released their first-ever Portugal kits after starting a new contract with the national team since the beginning of 2025. This comes after the federation’s successful 27 year-long contract with Nike was ended at the end of last year.

It’s officially a new year and for Portugal an exciting new era begins. The long wait for the first-ever PUMA Portugal kit is finally over as they finally show us their breakthrough national team kit for the upcoming year. Nike have been supplying Portugal with kits since 1997 and have made 16 kits in total over the years, providing some iconic looks worn by players such as Luís Figo, Rui Costa and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as producing the kit which was worn during Portugal’s first ever major trophy win in 2016 at the Euro’s. However, it’s time for a new age and PUMA have started this collaboration hot with this brand-new release.

Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Director Product Line Management Performance Apparel, said: “We are very proud to unveil the first-ever PUMA Portugal Home and Away kits for both the men’s and women’s teams. We are thrilled to partner with one of the most exciting national teams in the world and bring a new era to Portuguese football with custom products for both the men’s and women’s teams and create products that resonate with the incredible passion, culture and history of Portugal.

Focused on the Portuguese saying 'por amor à camisole' or 'for the love of the shirt', PUMA have designed a kit that reflects the rich history and passion that the country holds. The Men’s kit arrival lands with the traditional crimson red home shirt merged with their own PUMA twist. With a sleek aesthetic, this shirt flourishes in simplicity keeping to the traditions of the country and its football culture. Additional features such as the white and Portuguese green blocked round collar and the textured pattern on the shirt contribute to making this a crisp new look. A new away kit features an all-white shirt with a red and green dotted pattern that can be seen faded across the shirt, finished with a clean black trim on the collar and sleeves.

PUMA have dropped this launch with a bespoke kit for the women’s national team, including even more details to make a unique look. This includes an extended detail in the collar, wrapping the green and white all the way around rather than the cut version on the men, as well as an additional green block on the lower sleeve – a nice touch to keep to the traditional green and red colours of the Portuguese flag. The women’s away kit comes in a full mint green colourway rather than the white of the men’s, however still keeping to the faded dot pattern across the shirt.

In classic PUMA fashion, this kit blends traditional culture with bold decisions in order to produce a kit that’s representative of the pure love Portugal shows for the beautiful game. Both jerseys will be available in authentic and replica edition. The authentic, worn by the players, is made from PUMA's ULTRAWEAVE fabric, crafted to reduce weight and friction to allow elite performance. The replica however focuses on a more relaxed fit, ideal for both game days and everyday wear. This jersey is also made up of at least 95% recycled fabrics, sticking to PUMA's commitment to sustainability. Other items such as warm up tops and tracksuits will be sold alongside these kits to complete PUMA’s first Portugal kit collection. This may be the start of a very successful partnership hopefully on and off the pitch for Portugal.

PUMA are here to 'fazer história'.
