RC Celta is celebrating the Reconquista of Vigo with a special-edition jersey that embodies the pride and identity that unites the club with it's fans and city. Inspired by the anthem 'Oliveira Dos Cen Anos', the unique garment pays tribute to Vigo's history and the culture the city shares with the club.
In 1809 Vigo was reconquered by its citizens against the Napoleonic army in a courage effort. RC Celta is celebrating this history by unveiling a special-edition jersey that pays tribute to the culture of the club’s home, Vigo. The jersey draws inspiration from the anthem ‘Oliveira Dos Cen Anos’, incorporating patterns and designs that mirror the identity of the club. The launch of the jersey is supported by a visual campaign led by photographer Javier Ruiz, who captures the powerful message behind the jersey through a camera lens.
The design comes from a partnerhship with RC Celta and Hummel , under the creative direction of the Late Checkout team.
Adorning the chest is a bespoke crest, designed based on their anthem by integrating the traditional Celta crest with an Olive tree with 'silver roots' and the San Sebastián castle. A coloured Vigo flag features on the back of the jersey, alongside the inscription "Na ledicia son celeste, celtista non padecer" - an iconic verse from the club anthem - which is hidden within the neck of the jersey.
The crest, numbers and Estrella Galicia logo model a monochrome look with a elegant velvety finish. Exclusive typography has been designed for the jersey, developed especially from the shapes and aesthetics of the anthem itself. The special edition kit will be worn by RC Celta Vigo in their next ficture against UD Las Palmas.
The special edition jersey will be available from 31 March, with only 1,809 available - a nod to the year Vigo was reconquered by it's citizens.
