The Northern Super league have just revealed the official home kits for all six teams competing in their inaugural season. Designed in collaboration with global sportswear brand hummel, the striking home jerseys are tailored made to reflect the identity and culture of each club.
The Northern Super League (NSL) is the brand-new league started by Project 8 that will see professional women’s soccer arrive in Canada. The league earlier announced six founding teams for the inaugural season, which kicks off in April. Now, we see all six home kits for each club, which have been designed in collaboration with hummel. All the kits fashion bespoke designs reflecting the identity, culture and spirit of each team.
"Our clubs have designed kits with purpose, reflecting their identity, the passion of their communities, and the spirit of the players who define the NSL, hummel has helped bring that vision to life, resulting in bold, iconic designs that fans can truly rally behind.” said Kelly Shouldice, Vice President of Brand and Content, Northern Super League.
"We’re incredibly proud to unveil the inaugural jerseys for the Northern Super League, marking a historic moment for women’s football in Canada. In collaboration with each club, we’ve designed kits that not only reflect their unique communities but also set a new standard for the league’s future. We hope both players and fans will wear these jerseys with pride, and we can’t wait to see them come to life on the pitch.” shares Lars Stentebjerg, CEO of hummel.
Let’s have a look at all six kits…
Calgary Wild FC enter their debut season modelling a deep purple and vibrant red jersey, mirroring the city’s dusk sky. Each colour represents a personality trait of the team – purple reflecting strength and ambition, whilst the red embodies the fiery spirit of each player. At the heart of the design sits the team crest, featuring the penetrating eyes of a prowler. This symbolizes the Wild’s strategic, all-seeing presence on the pitch, waiting to strike.
Embodying the powerful, ever-changing nature of the tides, the Halifax Tides FC home kit symbolizes the transformation happening in the women’s game and the push for greater equality. The wave-like patterns reflect momentum and progress; just like the tides the team will rise.
Acting as a bold tribute to the courage and diversity of their city, the Montréal Roses kit is fashioned in a striking blue and red palette. The kit is designed in collaboration with local artist Niti Marcelle Mueth and features dynamic patterns and a rose motif in order to symbolize the team’s blossoming strength and vibrancy. The avant-garde design embraces creativity and fearless expression, encouraging new trends in the women’s game.
The Ottawa Rapid FC kit is a visual testament to speed, power and the beauty of nature. Vibrant accents cut through a dark black base, whilst hues of green and blue adorn the design. Large textural elements add depth and motion to the design, making every sprint and tackle feel like part of relentless natural phenomenon. The kit speaks to the unstoppable force that Ottawa Rapid intend to bring to the season.
The club’s signature ‘mighty maroon’ colour sits at the heart of AFC Toronto’s home kit, a colour representing strength, resilience and unity. The jersey embodies the city’s forward-thinking spirit and the strong connection between the team and the fans.
Inspired by the radiant energy of the sun, the Vancouver Rise FC home kit features a dynamic sunburst pattern – intended to reflect hope and growth. Vancouver Rise aims to to illuminate the path for future generations of female athletes, bringing inspiration on and off the pitch in a bid to aid the growth of the women’s game.
