Hellas Verona and kit provider Joma have unveiled a special edition kit designed to celebrate their 40-year Scudetto anniversary. The kit pays homage to the renowned 1984/85 season that saw Hellas Verona beat all odds by lifting the Serie A trophy.
Take it back to the 1984/85 Serie A season, underdogs Hellas Verona defy all odds and go on an unbelievable run to lead them to lift the established trophy of the top league in Italy. A year that sits at the heart of Verona’s history and one the fans will not forget. Fast forward to this year and the club is celebrating 40 years since this incredible achievement with a special edition Scudetto kit. Still to this day, Verona remains the only team from a non-regional capital city to win the Scudetto in the single round Serie A era.
Taking inspiration from the 84/85 away kit, the anniversary shirt models the traditional yellow and blue club colours, with yellow taking over the majority shirt. In retro style, fine blue pinstripes fall down the shirt, adding extra depth of texture to a clean aesthetic. A V-neck collar is decorated in a deep navy blue, as well as the sleeves cuffs and Joma ‘J’ logo.
Acting as another nod to that iconic title winning year, the shirt features a vintage club crest design from the kit worn during that season. The bespoke touches feature as a ‘40’ across the top, and the years 1985 and 2025 along the bottom of the badge. Looking to the back of the shirt, the Italian flag acts as a sign off on the neck, paying tribute to their beautiful country. Adding another subtle touch to the design, “E La Città Esplose Nel Suo Grido Più Alto” is inscribed into the neck of the shirt which is a nod to the historic commentary phrase from Roberto Puliero meaning “and the city exploded into its loudest cheer”.
The shirt arrives in both short and love sleeve varients and will be available in a limited run of only 1,985 pieces – the year of the Scudetto win. Hellas Verona first team will wear this kit for one time only for their fixture against Lecce on 11 May.
