Speed Football Boots - Mizuno Wave Ghost - 15/04/09
Mizuno introduce their speed concept football boots, the Mizuno Wave Ghost. Packed with a host of innovative technologies and industry leading materials, we got a sneak peek at these football boots ahead of their on-pitch debut!
On first glance, it's obvious the Wave Ghost football boots are a very unique boot from Mizuno. Designed to improve agility and acceleration, Mizuno have introduced a brand new upper material to the world of football boots called Kuraray.
Mizuno state that the Kuraray material combines the best of natural kangaroo leather and synthetic material, as shown with their fibre images below. Mizuno have tested their material and say it is 4 times stronger than k-leather and 1.2 times stronger than a synthetic material, as well as having 2 times lower water absorption than a synthetic upper.

At the SoccerBible we liked the Mizuno Wave Ghost football boots, because despite the facts and figures we were impressed with their performance and acknowledge Mizuno's innovations. We found the upper performs like kangaroo leather as far as touch and feel is concerned, and the lace-cover offers a great striking surface. The look may be reminiscent of a Nike Euro 2008 football boot or a special edition adidas World Cup, but at the end of the day they were exceptional boots.
The bold heel unit of the Wave Ghost football boots feature Mizuno's 'Wave' technology to improve comfort, but this can be enhanced with a choice of 'performance' or 'cushioning' insoles.
However, we've left till last one of the most incredible facts about the Mizuno Wave Ghost football boots, and that is that they only weigh 220g! Amazingly they are 10g lighter than the new Nike Mercurial Vapor V football boots! So they are definitely a boot that have caused some debate!
The Mizuno WAve Ghost football boots are expected to be available for retail from June 29th, and are expected to cost around £100 GBP.
