You just have to take one look at the new Puma v1.10 football boots to realise a lot of development has gone into these new boots, the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Samuel Eto'o will be wearing.
Once you get over the initial amazement of the unique design of the Puma v1.10 and the new blazing yellow/black/chili pepper colourway, your eyes are drawn to the innovative new features.
The v1.10 football boots have a central lacing system, with a soft, comfortable trainer-like breathable tongue. This is covered by a new lace-cover held into position by internal elastic, which creates a very large and very clean striking surface, combined with the redesigned toe area, made from the same material.
The material is a lightweight microfibre synthetic, with a unique coating that generates fantastic friction between the boot and the ball, which you notice immediately as it assists ball control, touch and accuracy.
The design of the Puma form-stripe is a bold feature of the new v1.10 football boots, but it serves a purpose. The chili pepper red area, which continues onto the instep of the boots, is a thermo-plastic that not only adds stability to the boot's shape, but its texture offers enhanced ball grip.
The combination of materials continues with the textile material used in the medial and lateral quarter of the boot, treated with a dirt and water repellent coating.
The heel area of the Puma v1.10 football boots also utilises another material, but once again Puma have got it right. The transparent heel counter which allows you to see the boots insole, is solid to provide the required heel stability, support and protection.
The heel counter forms part of the new one-piece speed outsole, which incorporates carbon fibre into its structure. The lightweight carbon fibre composite is embedded in the forefoot area, and provides pressure distribution, reactivity and flexibilty.
And movement is further complimented by the pointed stud configuration, to ensure smooth ground penetration for optimal traction.
The new Puma v1.10 football boots definitely make you go wow! There's no denying the design is unique, and the level of craftsmanship is there to see, with the quality stitching and moulding. Thanks to the insole and the lacing system this boot has a great fit, is comfortable, offers excellent traction and movement, and a good touch and feel for the ball. Puma promised us the new v1.10 football boots would be an evolution of their speed range, and we think they've delivered.
