Football Boots - adidas Predator Absolute 2006 - 21/10/09
We're just a few days away from the official launch of the new adidas Predator X football boots, the tenth generation of the iconic Predator range! In preparation for this momentous day, the SoccerBible has been counting down all the previous adidas Predator incarnations, and we're now at number eight - the adidas Predator Absolute.
Launched in 2006, the adidas Predator Absolute football boots were the most accurate, lightest and most powerful Predators ever made. They were particularly popular amongst the players, and could boast the likes of David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Kaka, Raul, Frank Lampard and Patrick Vieira as wearers at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
A more radical design than the Predator Pulse football boots that went before, the Predator Absolute maintained the asymmetrical lacing and kangaroo leather upper, but adidas incorporated some new and unique innovations.
The Predator technology was re-engineered for the Absolute football boots, with strategically positioned 'liquid rubber elements' added to an area known as the Power Zone. Offering better ball adhesion to help you achieve more control, swerve and accuracy when passing, shooting and dribbling the ball.
Probably the biggest innovation for the Predator Absolute was the exchangeable PowerPulse technology, incorporated into the sockliner, which was developed to deliver the sort of 'sweet spot' science usually found in golf clubs. The PowerPulse could increase ball speed by 5% compared to standard football boots, as the technology shifted the weight and mass of the PowerPulse (40 grams) when striking the ball.
