Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo Football Boots

Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo Football Boots

The SoccerBible has once again opened our Boot Vault to find a classic football boot from yesteryear. This time we've found the Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo football boots, as worn by the legendary Brazilian footballer.

The Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo football boots may not be the world's best known boot, but they certainly fall into the elite category. Released in 2002, the Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo's adorned the feet of one of the finest playmakers in the modern history of the game.

Made from extremely soft and comfortable kangaroo leather, the Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo football boots delivered what a player really needs on the field. A player doesn't need to bend the ball all the time, if you took the rubber and the good looks away from some of the more well known boots what have you got? A boot that is quite comfy but heavy. Instead, the Wave Cup Rivaldo's were one of the most comfortable and lightest football boots ever created, a statement anybody fortunate to have played in these boots would agree with.

Technically, the Wave Cup Rivaldo's could boast being one of the first incarnations of the now famous Mizuno Wave outsole, and paved the way for future sole-plates and stud configurations. The firm ground outsole of the Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo football boots featured the Brazilian s signature stud configuration. To create the unique sole-plates, Rivaldo worked alongside bio-mechanical and movement analysts to deliver an outsole that offered optimum traction, agility and freedom of foot movement.

It was wearing Mizuno football boots that Rivaldo scored his famous hat-trick for Barcelona against Valencia, to win the game 3-2 in their last game of the season. For his third goal Rivaldo scored a bicycle kick from the edge of the area in the 90th minute of the game, regarded as one of his greatest goals ever in combination of importance and skill. But more importantly, it was wearing Mizuno Wave Cup football boots that set the 2002 World Cup alight, as Rivaldo guided his Brazil side to the most coveted prize in football.

The Mizuno Wave Cup Rivaldo football boots fitted and looked great, they were extremely light and offered high levels of comfort. The softness of the leather provided excellent touch and a super feel for the ball, which meant these were a great boot for dribbling with the ball at pace, and maximising your game. The Wave Cup Rivaldo is a classic football boot and is well worthy of its place in the SoccerBible's Boot Vault.

Stay tuned to the SoccerBible as we reveal more soccer cleats from the Boot Vault, showcasing the best retro, classic and once forgotten boots and bringing them back to life!
