Football Boots Vault - adidas F50+ Football Boots
With hype building around the launch of the next generation adidas F50 football boots, the SoccerBible takes a retrospective look at some of the predecessors in the F50 series. These are the boots that have helped to mould and evolve the adidas F50 range for lightweight speed football boots.
In 2005, adidas followed up the original adidas F50 football boots with the F50+ range. The improvements to the adidas F50 included a more user friendly lacing system, and a more durable Engineered Mesh providing a distinctive design to the boot.
The innovative new TPU cage was designed to improve stability and durability, drawing inspiration from similar patterns in architecture that use cables and grids. For the adidas F50+ football boots, the cage provided a minimal way of creating flexible, lightweight and great fitting support for the players.
A mixed material upper was once again utilised for the adidas F50+ football boots, combining a high abrasion textile with a kangaroo leather lace-cover. The synthetic textile material offered a sock-like fit with low water absorption, whilst the innovative lace-cover increased the kicking area and provided optimal ball feel and touch.
Gearing the F50+ football boots for SPEED, adidas split the outsole to optimise weight and flexibility. Focusing the boot on speed and movement, the adidas F50+ football boots featured the X-Traxion stud system, providing maximum ground penetration with minimal stud pressure.
For comfort and fit, the adidas F50+ incorporated a new Velcro lace cover to create easy entry, a snug fit and a flat kicking surface. The slip-in sock-like construction enhanced fit, and was complimented by the adidas interchangeable Fusionframe insoles for customised performance.
