Football Boots - Rugby & Women's Colourways
Here's an alternative look at some of the most popular boot silo's available on the market. We're used to seeing the likes of the Predator, adiZero and PowerCat in a variety of colourways, but what about the versions that aren't designed specifically for football? They're practically still the same boot, just branded different and with a different colourway, but actually have provided some rather good looking boots!
We're just putting it out there and saying - why can't you wear a rugby or women's boot? If the technology is the same, the only difference is the colourway and that is down to personal preference. Take a look at some currently available on the market, you might just be surprised at what you see...
adidas Women's F50 adiZero Football Boots - White/Night Sky/Cyan
Interestingly, the women's adidas adiZero's are almost identical to the men's white/black/pink versions, it's just adidas have swapped round the traditionally masculine and feminine colours. Which is perhaps why we've already seen players in the MLS, such as Andy Williams of Real Salt Lake sporting these good looking white and cyan versions.
adidas Predator X Rugby Football Boots - Metallic Silver/Black/Master Blue
The adidas Predator X rugby boots are quite possibly the flashest and most eye-catching Predator X's released to date. Worthy of the best rugby player in the world - New Zealand's Dan Carter - the boots really make a statement on the pitch. The downside though, is that they are currently only available in a soft ground sole-plate and the word 'rugby' is printed underneath the Predator element, although this can always be covered with some mud!
Puma PowerCat 1.10 Rugby Football Boots - Black/Fluorescent Yellow
Apart from having 'rugby' printed on the lace-cover, these Puma PowerCat 1.10 boots are identical to their football counterparts. The black/yellow combination is a slick alternative to either the black/lime's or the black/red versions, and of course our suggestion would be to simply black out the small 'rugby' print, to give yourself a bespoke and quite good looking pair of football boots.
adidas Predator X Women's Football Boots - White/Black/Collegiate Red
The women's adidas Predator X football boots feature a slightly smaller heel, offering support to the female heel and ankle. But apart from that modification they are quite a classy colourway, and one that we could easily imagine being worn by the likes of David Beckham, Robin Van Persie, Raul or Daniele De Rossi.
Okay, so we're aware there are reasons why some boots are designed specifically for either rugby or the women's game. But we're not ruling out that some of these boots are not only viable options, but are actually quite good looking boots.
It's always good to see alternative colourways, and if we're honest if any of these boots appeared in the men's section, and were worn by the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and Xavi we'd probably all be agreeing how good they look!
