Nike 5 Astro & Indoor Football Trainers
With the increasing popularity of the smaller sided game and the onset of the winter months, there's currently more focus on football trainers. The SoccerBible recently featured a triple header of new Nike5 football trainers, which we follow up with a host of new Nike shoes suitable across the range of synthetic playing surfaces...
The Nike Bomba Pro football trainers are the next level for the Bomba family, and retail for around £55 GBP. This price doesn't mean performance has been sacrificed though, as the Bomba Pro's still offer a host of performance technologies.
Unlike the synthetic upper of the Bomba Finale, the Nike Bomba Pro soccer shoes feature a calf skin upper. Offering natural comfort and ball feel, that some would argue cannot be bettered by a synthetic material.
To further enhance performance and durability of the Nike5 Bomba Pro football trainers, there are rubber re-grinds featured on the toe and heel areas. Which reinforce the areas that receive the most wear and tear throughout the course of a fives, sixes or sevens season.
The design of the Bomba Pro trainers is characterised by the off-set lacing to the lateral side, borrowed from the popular Nike Laser range, which enlarges the ball contact area and creates a clean striking surface.
Despite being a take-down, Nike have not compromised the performance of the sole-unit. Potentially the most important feature on a football trainer, as traction and grip on the synthetic surfaces is key for quick turns, reaction and skill, and also injury prevention. The sole-unit of the Bomba Pro football trainers feature forefoot studs which are large and rounded to grip the ball better, combined with sharper and stronger heel studs to lock down the planted foot for better stability.
These Nike Bomba Pro football trainers offer an alternative to the pink/black Bomba Finale football trainers, and at a fraction of the price with arguably a classier colourway they could prove to be a more popular option for fans of the small sided game.
Next up are the Nike Elastico Pro football trainers, featuring a natural calf-skin leather upper for a comfortable fit and great ball feel and touch. The Elastico Pro's mesh panels provide breathable comfort while the lacing is slightly off-set to the medial side.
Available for around £55 GBP in a variety of alternative colourways, the Elastico Pro football trainers have a low-profile court traction outsole, and like their elder brother the Elastico Finale are designed specifically for the needs of the small sided game, enhanced by midfoot fins for underfoot ball control.
Finally, the ultimate in 5-a-side footwear is Nike's Gato range, and the latest addition to the family is this blue/white/red edition available for around £50 GBP. Constructed using a synthetic leather upper, with overlays on the toe and medial areas for durability, the Gato's mesh panels provide breathable comfort while the lacing is centred for a traditional fit.
For comfort, new football specific cushalon technology provides fantastic cushioning to keep you comfortable for the duration of your game. Whilst an articulated gum rubber outsole with honeycomb pattern provides non-marking traction and flexibility.
With a host of new football trainers on the market to cater for all your 3G, Astro and Indoor needs, we'd love to hear your opinions on the current Nike range...
