Up until now fans of the Wave Ignitus football boots have been restricted to a bright yellow colourway, and as this may not have been to everyone's liking, Mizuno have released their much talked about boots with this more classic black leather upper.
Mizuno have experienced a fabulous year and have really impressed in the boots market with some great new releases. Traditionally famed for their quality uppers, Mizuno have made quite an impact on the 'power' boots market with their innovative Wave Ignitus football boots.
Mizuno boots have built a reputation of fitting like a glove, and the Wave Ignitus is no exception to this. When we had the chance to test the first release of the Ignitus we were hugely impressed with its feel and performance. We're all aware of the physiological benefits the right boot gives, and the Wave Ignitus certainly delivers on this front.
The upper is made from a super soft K-leather material which has been re-constructed specifically for the Ignitus. Touch and feel - two more Mizuno hallmarks - are further enhanced with this soft upper and you'll be surprised how light the boot feels. Our play test pair tipped the scales at 229g (for a US size 9) - over 95g lighter per shoe than a Predator X and 105g lighter per shoe than the equivalent K-Laser III.
The Ignitus features a triple density heel counter, designed with the input and assistance of CSKA Moscow and Japan's Keisuke Honda. The triple Pebax density heel counter offers improved fit, comfort and most importantly improves protection from serious injury.
One of the main features of the Wave Ignitus boots is the Mukaiten panel, a technology unique and exclusive to Mizuno. Mukaiten simply means ''no spin'', so the strategically placed panel on the instep of the boot means striking the ball causes an unpredictable flight path - intended to confuse and fool the opposition and goalkeeper.
The Mukaiten panel is wrapped around by the 360 degree Bio Vamps, last seen on the Shinken series. The Ignitus boasts a much more aggressive version and with these spread over the instep and forefoot the Ignitus offers much greater control and enhanced power.
Over the past six months, the Mizuno Wave Ignitus football boots have been one of the most talked about products on the market. But by only releasing the yellow colourway, Mizuno were missing out on a portion of the market who were keen to try the boots, but not so keen on wearing bright boots! The release of these Black/Gold/Red colourways has addressed this issue, and it has to be said are a classy addition to the range. You can expect to see the new Ignitus boots hit the market early December, although they are available to pre-order now, and have retained their competitive £120 GBP price tag.
