The Mizuno Supersonic Wave football boots don't strictly fall into a boot category as they are a sort of speed, control and heritage hybrid boot, combined with traditional Mizuno technology and craftmanship to make this another serious contender for your next boot purchase!
As you'd expect from Mizuno this is a supple, comfortable football boot and you can tell just by looking at the Supersonic Wave. However, trying to categorise this boot is a bit of a challenge - from looks alone it has an almost classic, heritage style, yet Mizuno have incorporated tech design to aid control, and have also made this their lightest football boot!
So what of the tech? Utilising a new "Feather Touch" system the Supersonic Wave is designed to aid control and touch at speed. Low profile memory foam is integrated in to key areas of the upper at the forefoot to aid ball control whilst dribbling at speed. Structured lateral overlays in the upper also secure the foot whilst changing direction at pace - improving fit and stability.
The Mizuno Supersonic Wave features a fine Kangaroo quilted upper (a rarity if this is to be classed as a speed boot) and suede collar lining which really does give a luxurious fit. Thanks to Mizuno's running shoe heritage and developments, there is a strong technical edge to keep your foot secure for speed bursts and quick evasive turns. The Wave element comes from Mizuno's Wave tech configuration which sits in the heel to offer stability and cushioning.
Boot weight is an important factor in the modern game, and the Supersonic Wave is a boot that allows Mizuno to compete in this department. The Supersonic Wave tips the scales at 215g per boot, which may not impress as much as an adizero Prime at 145g, but you have to bear in mind that both the Predator X and T90 Laser weigh-in at plus 300g!
The Mizuno Supersonic Wave Football Boots use Mizuno's lightest and most innovative outsole to date - designed to deliver optimum flexibility, stability and traction.
The outer case features softer grade PU to enhance touch and feel, and is yet another example of the quality and craftmanship that goes into making the Supersonic Wave, evident all across the boots.
Mizuno's "Tiger Claw" stud configuration features more running performance cross over, where the layout and design aims to improve acceleration and lateral stability. Featuring a dual density stud composition no matter how hard the ground gets this boot stays comfy and stable
The Red/White/Gold Mizuno Supersonic Wave Football Boots are available to pre-order now ahead of an early January retail release. The top end model will set you back around £100 GBP / $150 USD. Don't worry if your budget doesn't stretch that far, as there is also the option of the Mizuno Sonic Club, a reasonably priced take down which features the same look as the top end Supersonic Wave.
