With a better fit, closer feel and improved control, the Mizuno Supersonic Wave is one of Mizuno's most advanced football boots to date! After extensive months of testing in the J-League, Mizuno have created what they feel is the ultimate control boot - a boot that maintains unrivalled close control at speed.

So how have they achieved this? J-League players were tested to understand how the foot behaves when dribbling at speed. Mizuno's key finding was that players use the lateral side of the foot to make small 'control adjustments or touches' to keep the ball close to the foot. Simply put; to improve touch, the lateral area is the key area!

Mizuno's answer to this lies within the new Mizuno Supersonic Wave II. Additional external support has been placed on the lateral side of the boot to support the upper. This keeps the foot held securely and allows a greater range of freedom on the ball.

Another key feature of the Mizuno Supersonic Wave II is the unique Feather Touch System (FTS) that makes up the front of the boot. Using two types of memory sponge under the upper, the FTS is designed to reduce the rebound between ball and foot contact.

The front of the boot is made up of two different 'rebound sponge' materials that form the FTS. A low thickness MicroFibre synthetic found in the left half of the toe-box keeps the ball closer to the foot. This low rebound sponge retains its shape throughout the 90 minutes. A K leather high rebound sponge makes up the remaining front area of the boot, providing a rich natural feel.

Two fundamental skills in ball control is pulling the ball towards you and rolling the ball away. Mizuno's highly considered Tiger Claw outsole provides optimum flexibility, traction and acceleration. The stud configuration offers a conical and balded stud shape with two densities that make the outsole incredibly lightweight - just 80g! The total weight of the new Mizuno Supersonic Wave II is a respectable 235g.

Every Mizuno boot comes with the guarantee of quality. The upper of the Mizuno Supersonic Wave II is a combination of performance and feel enhancing materials. The highly-regarded Mizuno Morelia Wave stitch lines are used in the upper of the Mizuno Wave Supersonic II for a great fit and feel. Other features include a k-leather tongue with mesh inserts and a soft touch collar with perforated collar lining.

Graphically, the new Mizuno Supersonic Wave II comes with some new features. A new FTS logo now sits alongside the new 'FTS panel' design on the toe area of the boot. SoccerBible was granted access to an early production sample of the new Supersonic Wave II. Our friends at  Mizuno have since informed us that the final retail release will feature a blue 'FTS panel' on the front of the boot!

The truly innovative outsole of the Mizuno Supersonic Wave II comprises of a soft outside with a Pebax core, making it incredibly light with a soft feel. Weighing just 80g, the outsole is an astonishing 40g lighter than its control boot rival, the Nike CTR360! A reinforced mid-foot with flex grooves is followed by the compact Wave insert under the rear of the outsole.

Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta is scheduled to wear the new Pearl colourway from July 2011! Until then, the new Mizuno Supersonic Wave II football boots are available to pre-order now for a July 1st release. Expect to pay around £120 GBP  / $195 USD / €135 EURO.
