The Ryan Giggs SoccerBible Boot Archive

The Ryan Giggs SoccerBible Boot Archive

Ryan Giggs is no ordinary player. On the cusp of his 1000th professional appearance, the Manchester United legend has also created a iconic legacy within the Reebok brand. Despite disappearing from the footballing map, Giggs remains a mainstay of the Reebok sports company.

Any boot romanticist (if there's such a thing!) might like to think this is down to brand loyalty. Alternatively, he might be tied to a career-long contract. Either way, Giggs has worn some special boots over his years as a Reebok athelte. Luckily for us, a few of them hold a place in our SoccerBibleArchive. What better time to take a look at some!

Ryan Giggs made his debut for Man United in March 1991, wearing a pair of PUMA King boots. A deal with Reebok since followed and he's gone on to become one of the most celebrated players in European football. In the current boot climate of mega money contracts, it's amazing to think of a player wearing one brand for so long.

Our Giggs collection includes three boots that hold pride of place in the SoccerBible Archive. A signed 2008 Reebok Sprintfit Pro, personalised to commemorate the 2008 Champions League final in Moscow, a signed 2009 Reebok Instante, and the no.1 edition of the Reebok RG800, released in 2010 to commemorate his 800th professional appearance.

Nowadays, Reebok custom design a traditional leather boot similar to the RG800. In recent season's Giggs has worn a number of white designs including blue, gold and red colour combinations. It would be great to see Reebok commemorate his 1000th appearance when Manchester United face Real Madrid in the Champions League.

One thing for sure is we'll be getting at least one more season of Giggs and his Reebok boots, taking him to his 40th birthday. When Giggs does finally hang up his boots, it will be the end of an era for Manchester United and Reebok.
