PUMA King & King SL Football Boots - White/Red/Black
PUMA add a stylish new paint job to the re-energised King family. The new White/Red/Black design arrives as PUMA's fifth addition to the 2012/13 King line. A slick colour update which will be worn by Bayern Munich's Brazilian defender Dante in the 2013 Champions League final at Wembley.
The King is still the daddy as far as old time classics are concerned. Seen as the boot choice for football traditionalists, the new design boasts modern technologies that keep the King relevant. The new colour drop may not be retro King but it still oozes class. Having those 4 letters on the side of your boot will always earn you respect. We understand if you're one of those old school players that think a heritage boot can only be black, but it's 2013, you can pull off a white boot now and still be classic. White isn't even considered flash these days, they'll always be some doughnut on the other team wearing a pair of pink/gold boots doing between 4 and 9 unnecessary step-overs every time he gets the ball. That's flash.
The PUMA King SL strips everything back to create a boot that weighs a slender 171g - that's seriously lightweight considering it's still essentially a heritage silo. The upper is constructed using a Japanese premium microfibre material with leather like properties so you still get that traditional feel for the ball. Bit lighter, more streamline and to be honest it does look a bit cooler but it will set you back about an extra £30.
The standard edition PUMA King has been reworked to deliver a lighter boot than previous generations, weighing just over the 200g mark. The upper of the boot is made from a super-soft premium leather, which adapts to the natural curves of the foot for a glove-like fit. As far as comfort and fit goes, only Pantofola d'Oro and Copa Mundial's come close to the King.
The lightweight Pebax outsole uses a mix of conical and traction studs to ensure a good balance between flexibility, grip and manoeuvrability, while the external heel counter with classic KING branding gives improved heel fit and extra stability to protect you from those Scholes-esque grinders down the back of the Achilles.
