Nike begin their World Cup 2018 preparations by celebrating the heritage of the Mercurial series with a collection of iconic World Cup designs. The graphics of the 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 & 2014 Mercurials are reimagined on the new-generation Mercurial Superfly and Vapor 360 editions.
The showpiece Mercurials from each of the past five World Cups are transformed via NikeiD into modern day designs as Nike pay tribute to 20 years of the Mercurial. Dropping in both the Vapor and Superfly silhouettes, the Mercurial Heritage Collection is drenched in nostalgia to represent the legends that have worn the series at previous World Cup tournaments – from France in 1998 to Brazil in 2014.
With Nike celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Mercurial in a World Cup year we can expect the hype levels to increase with every Swoosh launch in the next couple of months. For now though, this ain't a bad place to start at all. Five of the most heralded Mercurial aesthetics mirrored onto the most advanced Mercurial to date – the most simple and most crowd-pleasing of launches.
The Nike Mercurial Heritage Collection is available exclusively from NikeiD.
