Nike have dropped a dark and disruptive take on the Mercurial and PhantomVSN series as their introduce the 'Wavelength' pack for a handful of their selected athletes. Landing as Nike exclusive option, the boots will be on the feet of Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham & Mason Mount and Barcelona pairing of Caroline Graham & Mariona Caldentey this weekend.

Selecting players from the same teams demonstrates how Nike market and position the respective silos: for Chelsea they'll be hoping the creativity and vision of Mason Mount in the PhantomVSN will assist Tammy Abraham in finding the back of the net in the Mercurial, and likewise Barcelona midfielder Caroline Graham will wear the PhantomVSN to pick out forward Mariona Caldentey in the Mercurial as the brand focus on the synergy of the teammates; hence the title of the pack 'Wavelength'.

As for the design of the boots themselves, it's hard to deny the fact that the blend of low-key-meets-style is a crowd-pleasing vibe. The black bases of the Mercurial Superfly, Vapor and PhantomVSN are met with a juxtaposition of blue soleplates, swooshes and branding as Nike deliver a tasty under the radar drop which they're keeping all to themselves. Nike's full squad of professional players will remain in the bolder 'Future Lab' collection until Spring time, while the 'Wavelength' pack will come and go pretty quickly.
