Sadio Mane entered the elite '100 Club' this weekend after reaching a century of Premier League goals with the opener against Watford, and New Balance have been quick to reward the player with a special edition Furon v6+.
The ‘100 Club’ is very exclusive indeed, and Sadio Mane was only too happy to join it this weekend with his sixth goal of the season, and his fifth in the Premier League. The 29-year-old had already reached a century of goals in all competitions for Liverpool last month – one week after fellow Reds winger Salah had entered the elite Premier League '100 Club’ himself. But this week it’s all about Mane, and New Balance were only too happy to celebrate the feat.
The specially designed Furon v6+ takes the regular ‘Alpha Flair’ edition and adds in gold detailing across the soleplate and across Mane’s bespoke insignia on the heel. The words ‘100 goals’ have also been added in tribute to his achievement.
Mane is the third African player to score 100 times in the Premier League and only the third player to do so in the division without any penalties.
“Honestly, when I came to the Premier League my dream was to score as many as I can and especially to win trophies,” said Mane. “So today I’m very happy and very proud to score 100 goals. Hopefully more goals [are] coming and also trophies coming.”
It's not the first time that New Balance have honoured Mane's achievements, having bestowed a special signature edition boot upon him following his African Player of the Year award back in January 2020.
