Ahead of England’s World Cup qualifier against Albania at Wembley this Friday, PUMA celebrate all things capital city with the limited edition King 21 London edition, which features a colourway inspired by England.
The PUMA King Platinum 21 gets a London do-over, honouring the spiritual home of football with a clean white base joined by block LDN wording that dominates the wild soleplate. The style of that wording mimics the streets and blocks that give the city its own unique characteristics. Overlaying that block text is a grid graphic, included as a homage to the iconic Wembley arch that dominates the skyline in and around the famous stadium. That white upper is interrupted only by a stylised version of the PUMA formstipe, which runs down the outside in red. The heel then features the word 'London', just incase you were still unsure about the boots design inspiration.
The King Platinum 21 has been updated for superior touch, traction and comfort. Its premium K-leather upper features new KINGForm technology, a ribbed structure that’s fused to the leather in key areas to mould the boot around the shape of the foot. Might look a bit odd at first, but this is an update that’ll boost the performance of the boot, with those subtle ridges serving to increase ball contact, improving control.
Around the ankle, a lightweight KomfortSystem knitted tongue brings the King into the present day: sadly no iconic tongue here, but sacrificed for a better level of performance, ensuring a secure fit. That jazzy graphic underside covers what is an all-new MoveControl soleplate, which offers the trademark stability of the King at a lighter weight.
A unique look for the iconic boot, but with only 100 pairs available this is an extremely limited drop, so if you're keen don't hang around.
