Alexia Putellas scooped her second Ballon d’Or in a row recently, and to honour the achievement Nike have produced a special signature edition Phantom GT II for the Barcelona Femeni star.
Back-to-back Ballon d’Or awards is no small feat, and despite missing the recent Euros, Alexia Putellas has managed it with aplomb. While she is working her way back towards full fitness following the serious knee injury she suffered back in May, Nike have given her an extra incentive to get out on the pitch, with the presentation of a bespoke pair of Phantom GT II, awarded in honour of her second Ballon d’Or win, which she received almost a month ago.
The boots are based on the standard Nike Phantom GT II, but they are suitably dressed out for the occasion, with glittering golden accents flashing alongside black and white elements in what is a geometric design that covers the upper.
The Swoosh branding features a nice sparkle, while the soleplate is also gold – the entire look nodding to all the trophies the Spain star has scooped in her career so far. The wording ‘Alexia II’ then features on the heel as an obvious nod to her two Ballon d’Or awards.
A smart look all round, but one that is reserved purely for Putellas, with the look not being made available for retail. Shame.
