Nike Release Phantom GX In A Stealthy New Blackout Look

The Phantom GX burst on to the scene in a disruptive manner, arriving on the World Cup stage in an eye-catching colourway, but now it goes down the more subtle route with Nike releasing the next generation silo in a “Black/Summit White/Dk Smoke Grey” colourway.

While the Phantom was due an upgrade, no one was expecting it to land smack bang in the middle of the World Cup as it did, gracing the feet of England players as they prepared for their quarter final with France. It caught the eye thanks to that big, bold hit of “Hyper Pink” that dominated the look, highlighting the next gen boot’s callout new tech in the Gripknit Upper. But for those that might like their innovation in a more subtle shade, Nike have now dropped the Phantom GX in a darker wrap of blacks and greys.

For those that have missed the Phantom GX so far, its calling card is Nike Gripknit technology, touted as a huge step for the brand, and it’s said that it will revolutionise the football footwear landscape. The material itself is a mix of high-tenacity yarns with a treatment to create Gripknit. The result is perfect interaction with the ball, offering just the right amount of stick.

For this version, the Gripknit upper is presented in “Dark Smoke Grey”, and that combines with the black base, while orange hits flash through the soleplate and interior.

Stealthy and seductive, this is Nike’s latest innovative tech presented in a pleasingly understated look.
