Introducing the latest instalment in the Dream Speed series, Nike launch the Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XV and Superfly IX MDS 006, which is set to be worn by key Nike athletes such as Kylian Mbappé, Bruno Fernandes, Ada Hegerberg and Sam Kerr.
Designed for a select number of the Swoosh’s elite athletes without being a full-blown signature edition for one solitary athlete, the Nike Mercurial Dream Speed series kicked off in September 2019 and has since gone on to have a further four instalments, all exploring the theme of speed and its different meanings and interpretations. Now we get the sixth version in the line and the first in the Air Zoom generation of Mercurial, and it arrives in a bright and breezy “Cobalt Bliss/Black/Fuchsia” colourway.
Layered digital tones with metallic and colour shifting finishes add depth and vibration to a distorted floral graphic. That’s right, we said floral, because this one takes inspiration from flowers as a symbol of giving the elite players that will wear it the credit they deserve and honouring those who have helped them along the way. Not sure on the link to speed? Yeah, neither are we. But, MDS005 it is, and you can expect to see Kylian Mbappé, Sam Kerr and Bruno Fernandes all lacing up in them in the coming weeks, along with a likely few others in the Nike roster.
