PUMA Honour Olivier Giroud With Specially Customised Ultra

To honour the achievement of becoming his nation’s all-time leading scorer for the men’s team, PUMA have recruited renowned boot customiser, Silni Art, to produce a special Ultra for Olivier Giroud.

France may have lost out at the last hurdle, but Olivier Giroud came away from the 2022 World Cup having set a new goalscoring record with the French national team, etching his name into the history books. His four goals took his total for the men’s national team to 53, surpassing Thierry Henry to become the country's all time leading goalscorer. It’s a tremendous feat, which has taken 11 years to achieve, and now PUMA honour the striker with a special pair of Ultra boots, customised by Silni Art.

The boots feature several callouts to Giroud, with a white base playing host to a beautiful French tricolore execution down the lateral side of each, with the formstripe taking on a golden flash where it overlaps with the blue and red on the left and right respectively. The fixture in which Giroud scored the milsetone goal (France v Poland) along with the date (04/12/22) appears on the left forefoot in gold, while the record number of 52 appears on the right foot in the same position. Giroud's number 9 and the French crest appear in gold on the right and left heel respectively.

The medial side of the right foot features the phrase "On se bat, on vit on gagne ensemble!" (We fight, we live, we win together!), while the left foot features the signoff "Forever Olivier", playing on PUMA's tag line of Forever Faster. They are then finished with shimmering chrome soleplates.

The boots are obviously a one-of-one creation, handcrafted as they are, and so will not be available for retail. They were presented to the man himself in a special presentation box that again called out the achievements – whether Giroud chooses to wear them in a game remains to be seen, but we doubt it.
