Paying homage to one of the brand’s most iconic boots, Nike drop the Premier III in a Green Speed-inspired colourway of “Black/Volt”.

Originally launched in 2012, the Green Speed (GS) was Nike’s lightest boot at the time, weighing in at a mere 160g. Made entirely from renewable and recycled materials, it was a revolution in the boot making game and an example of Nike showing what they were capable of. The same concept remained on the 2018 Mercurial Superfly 360 Green Speed edition – the boots and their packaging are made from 100 percent recycled materials – and it was once again wrapped in that iconic colourway. Now, while the environmental concept may be abandoned, the Premier III pays homage to that line with a “Black/Volt” colourway.

Back in 2012 the Nike GS was worn by Neymar at the 2012 Olympic Games, while the 2018 edition was headlined by Kylian Mbappe. OK, so the grassroots champion that is the Premier III isn’t going to be able to boast any stars of that calibre, but this is a boot of the people, for the people, designed for those gritty Sunday League pitches.

Nike are ensuring their are plenty of Premier options, with this Green Speed version following on from the crisp triple white release and the in-line ‘Ready Pack’ colourway.

For those not in the know, The Premier III boasts a premium cow leather upper, featuring an altered stitch pattern through the forefoot to create specific cushioning zones at the instep and outstep. On the heel is a beautifully embossed “Nike Premier” logo, while the over-sized Swoosh rides down the lateral side, much as it does on its spiritual sibling, the Tiempo. Then there’s the tongue. Some love it, some not so much, and Nike appreciate that, placing a dotted cut line along its base, just incase you want to lop it off.
