Nike Drop Retro-Inspired Premier III 'Black/White/Amarillo'

Bringing a throwback aesthetic to what is already a classic feeling boot, Nike drop the Premier III ‘Retro’, which arrives in a “Black/White/Amarillo” colourway that nods to the OG Tiempo from 1994.

As any fan of the Premier – Nike’s grassroots champion – will know, it is a spiritual sibling of the Tiempo, the Swoosh’s longest lasting and iconic silo, taking certain qualities (comfort and classic feel) and reinterpreting them at a lower price for lower league pitches. One of the beautiful things about the Premier is the range of colourways in which it is available, ensuring their are options for all, and in line with that Nike has dropped the Premier III ‘Retro’, which pays tribute to the first widely seen Tiempo from the 1994 World Cup in the United States, 30 years ago.

The last colourway update of the Premier III came only a few weeks ago, nodding to the Tiempo XX, and that followed a Ronadinho-inspired golden colourway. And here the homages keep coming.

Of course, the look has also been replicated over the years, notably on the 2020 Tech Craft pack, but here it’s just the Premier doing what the Premier does best.

For those not in the know, The Premier III boasts a premium cow leather upper, featuring an altered stitch pattern through the forefoot to create specific cushioning zones at the instep and outstep. On the heel is a beautifully embossed “Nike Premier” logo, while the over-sized Swoosh rides down the lateral side, much as it does on its spiritual sibling, the Tiempo. Then there’s the tongue. Some love it, some not so much, and Nike appreciate that, placing a dotted cut line along its base, just incase you want to lop it off.
