Bringing back a classic from the past in some seriously premium style, Diadora drop the Maximus Elite in a limited edition ‘gold’ colourway.

Back in the 2006/07 season Francesco Totti wore the Diadora Maximus 14 in a ‘White/Red’ colourway featuring the Italians iconic number 10 on the tongue. They went on to gain cult status, and were renowned for their craftsmanship and quality – traits that are synonymous with the brand. Now, Diadora bring the Maximus back, and they do so in some serious style, presenting it in a luxurious gold wrap.

It’s an extremely limited edition drop, as you’d expect, but it sees an almost exact recreation of the original Maximus. Carrying the ‘Made in Italy’ tag, a hallmark of excellence in boot design, the upper is crafted from premium leather, which is presented in different shades of gold, allowing the Diadora branding to stand out. Those golden hues are combined with white accents through that heel, recreating the look of the OG boot. It's a look that Diadora are quite partial too, having released the iconic Brasil model in a similar guise twice before.

On the underside, a Bi-density Pebax sole with 12 lamellar conical studs and enhanced with Rotax 2.0 technology at the first metatarsal offers improved rotational movement and stability, so the look from the past is able to play in the present. But as we always say, you have to have some cojones to wear these. Nah, they're far more suited to the collectors out there.
