PUMA Launch The 'Formula Pack'

Changing gear ahead of the new season, PUMA launch the ‘Formula Pack’, which sees the already released Ultra 5 joined by the Future 7 and King in vibrant new colourways.

PUMA have set a trend over recent years of releasing next generation updates solo, giving them time to shine in the spotlight without attention being taken up by the supporting cast. They then follow that up a week or so later with the full pack release. And sure enough, that’s what we’ve got here, with the all-new Ultra 5 – revealed back at the end of June – now being joined by the Future 7 and King, which both arrive in complementing new colourways.

The ‘Formula Pack’ name is a double-entendre of sorts, in that it nods back to the brand’s links with Formula One, which is particularly relevant given the Ultra 5’s Carbon Edition and the connections it has with the motor sport (more on that later), but also in terms of the formula for success; you need the best equipment to win, and PUMA are offering up three of the best for that in the Future 7, King and Ultra 5, all presented in fresh new looks.

The Future 7 Ultimate comes in a “Bluemazing/Puma White/Electric Peppermint” colourway, with the blue spread across the top of the upper, fading into the peppermint colour as it descends. The branding then pops in pink through the heel and Fusion Tape.

The King Ultimate then takes on a “Puma White/Bluemazing/Flat Light Grey/Sunset Glow” colourway, where the white is the base colour, dominating the whole look and showing off those new embossed grooves in the forefoot area. That then leaves the remaining pink and blue hues to transition through the iconic formstripe branding, lending the look some proper Miami vice vibes.

Finally, we’ve already seen the Ultra 5, but it’s worth another look now that it lines up as part of this completed pack. In case you weren’t aware, it’s available in two top-end options: the Ultra 5 Ultimate, and the premium Ultra 5 Carbon. Aesthetically, both are presented in a “Lapis Lazuli/Puma White/Sunset Glow”, continuing the theme from the Future and King.

Taking focus on the Carbon Edition though, and its links to Formula One come from the carbon fibre soleplate – the same material used on Mercedes F1 cars. It’s the toughest, lightest, most aerodynamic material available, so yeah, pretty special.
