New Boot Brand Sokito Announce DeAndre Yedlin As Ambassador

There’s a new, eco-friendly boot brand in town who go by the name of Sokito, and as they start to get a foot in the game, they’ve just announced the signing of FC Cincinnati’s DeAndre Yedlin, who joins the brand as investor and athlete.

For those that don’t know (and at this stage, that’s probably most, in fairness), UK-based football boot brand Sokito are a new brand on the block and they’re looking to change the game through positive action. Their calling card is that they hand-craft eco-friendly football boots, and their goal is to create maximum impact on the pitch, not the planet. They are proud custodians of the world’s first boot recycling scheme, were the first brand to have a boot certified by The Vegan Society, and are the first to create a boot from almost entirely bio-based materials. It’s way more than just talk, and athletes are starting to take notice. One such athlete is former Newcastle United man and current FC Cincinnati star, DeAndre Yedlin.

Yedlin has joined the brand as its newest ambassador and investor, and he lines up alongside fellow MLS Stars Ashley Westwood (Charlotte FC) and Sebastian Lletget (FC Dallas), as well as the NWSL’s Jasmyne Spencer (Angel City) to boost Sokito’s on-pitch footprint Stateside. Also with the brand is former Premier League player and Nigeria star, William Troost-Ekong.

The former USMNT regular hopes to use his partnership with Sokito to underscores his commitment to promoting sustainable practices within the sports industry. As an ambassador and investor, Yedlin will play a pivotal role in advancing Sokito's initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of sportswear manufacturing. “The future of the planet is incredibly important, because it’s what our kids are going to be living on,” he explained. “Anything I can do to play my part in helping, I am going to do. Sokito was really interesting for me, because the brand shared so many of the values that I already have. It's also a boot that people want to wear, on top of being good for the planet.

Sokito currently boast two main silos in their roster in the Scudetta and the Devista, both of which are available in vegan models. The brand also recently made the move away from using K-leather, further solidifying their eco-friendly approach.
