This week saw the unveiling of the adidas x David Beckham limited edition Originals Predator 24, and to complement that drop, the Three Stripes have dressed up the Copa Gloro II in a corresponding colourway.
In true tried and trusted fashion, adidas have offered up a more affordable option to their latest premium release, with the classic Copa Gloro II suiting up in a “Ftwr White/Bright Royal” colourway to coincide with the release of the David Beckham-co-designed Originals Predator 24. With the Copa Gloro II now sporting that elasticated fold-over tongue much in the same way the Predator 24 does (as one of the three fit options available) it’s the perfect model to homage its more expensive relation, and in fairness, it does a pretty good job of it.
Diving right into the aesthetics, and the presentation is almost exactly the same as the DB Predator 24, with a white base joined by blue accents, notably on the tongue. But unlike that Predator, you won’t find Trefoil here, with the performance logo retaining its place. How you choose to wear that fold-over tongue will determine how you look in this boot (clue: pull it as far down as it will go). While the tongue is all Predator, Mundial-style serrated 3-Stripes provide that unmistakable link to the boots’ Copa roots.
Flip it, and on the underside, a modern take on the World Cup’s plate features conical studs for a combination of traction and comfort.
While the Copa Gloro has gone through a slight design refresh for 2024, giving it that ‘mark II’ title change, tradition is still at the centre of what it’s about. So it still uses a high quality cow leather to nail that super-soft and comforting touch on the ball while providing a classic snug feel around the foot, while it’s also 28 grams lighter than its predecessor overall.
