adidas Unveil MLS 'Nativo XXV' 2020 Official Match Ball

To help celebrate the league’s 25th anniversary and to kick off a new decade of soccer in North America, adidas have unveiled the MLS 2020 Official Match Ball. Titled the ‘Nativo XXV’, the design pays homage to the original Mitre Ultimax that was used in Major League Soccer’s debut season back in 1996.

The 2019 MLS season has just been concluded, with Seattle Sounders crowned MLS Cup champions for only the second time in their history, after they triumphed over Toronto. But no sooner has the showpiece event culminated than attention turns to next season, with adidas and MLS unveiling the special ‘Nativo XXV’, which features a special retro design for the league’s 25th anniversary.

Utilising the same technology as the recently unveiled Euro 2020 ‘Uniforia' match ball but incorporating the colours and identity from the original Mitre Ultimax MLS ball, the Nativo XXV is made from 100 percent water-based materials and print colours, making it adidas’ most sustainable ball to date. Additionally, the unique 'Hi-White' material used for the ball allows for better visibility on the field for players.

The new MLS Nativo XXV is one of the many ways that MLS will celebrate its milestone year. In the coming months, MLS will unveil a series of initiatives to celebrate 25 years and to kick off a new decade of soccer in North America.

The adidas MLS Nativo XXV Official Match Ball will be available from 2 January. The MLS 2020 season kicks off on 29 February.
