Landing with some fiery hues that are reminiscent of the host country’s colours, adidas launch the Official Match Ball of the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final, the Madrid Finale19.
The Madrid in this case, is Atletico though, not Real, though you’d be forgiven for thinking that after their domination in the competition over the last three years. The Madrid Finale19 continues the trend that the group stage ball started by inverting the colour scheme used in previous years and having white stars and a red graphic print that features Atletico Madrid’s home, the Wanda Metropolitano, the stadium that will host the final.
The ball itself features no new tech to differentiate it from the group stage ball, still boasting the latest adidas performance technology. It instead settles for an aesthetic redo that continues to highlight the iconic stars of the Champions League, while also featuring a three-level digital glitch graphic, giving the ball a bold, modern look. It'll debut when the knockout stages commence in February and will stay on pitch right up until the final whistle in Madrid on June 1.
